Developing Internet Accessible Database Applications to Enable
and Enhance Research and Education in the UCLA Biomedical Community.

A database application can be defined as software that collects, tracks, organizes or distributes information. Computer programs that solicit and store patient surveys, keep track of biopsy specimens or microarray data, schedule appointments or bill investigators for core services- are all examples of database applications we have created in our years of supporting the UCLA research community.

Ctrl Designed database app websites are a viable solution to the vast majority of data management problems researchers constantly struggle with while dealing with enormous amounts of data & organizational dilemmas. Our relational database programs are flexible and scalable tools that can handle millions of records and thousands of users simultaneously without the cost associated with purchasing a commercial software product.

Advantages of Our Research Solutions:

  1. A Low-cost Open-source Application Framework (OpenACS)

  2. Oracle Relational Database Management System, MS sql & Java

  3. Utilization of UCLA´s High-speed Gigabit Network.
